How We Give Back

The PALS Foundation is currently a small organization made up of four members and a handful of volunteers.  Every summer we host the annual Gene McClure Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament, as a fund raiser.  With the support of the local community and corporate sponsors, we have been able to raise thousands of dollars for our cause.

In 2010, we partnered with the, Give an Hour, www.giveanhour.org, a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization dedicated to, “meeting the mental health needs of the troops and families affected by the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan”.  They provide counseling to individuals, couples, and families, as well as children and adolescents. They offer treatment for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, sexual health and intimacy concerns, as well as for loss and grieving.

The PALS Foundation chose the, Give an Hour organization for one specific reason. At Give an Hour, all of the professionals providing counseling for the troops are doing so pro-bono.  In choosing a suitable organization it was important to us that the funds be used in a way that would directly affect the men and women struggling, and not simply be put into a “general fund” to be used in anyway the organization saw fit.  The funds recently donated will be used to provide the men and women returning, with educational information on where to turn and what to do if they need to seek help.

In the future, the PALS Foundation hopes to grow exponentially.  We hope to expand upon ways in which to raise money and awareness, each and every year.  If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact us using the contact us page.
